We need a new leader

"All levels of the government are doing the best they can," Bush said in Baton Rouge. "So long as any life is in danger, we've got work to do," he said [USA Today] If he's doing the best he can, he is not up for this task. We were so upset that a grown man got a blow job that we actually impeached him, and yet it is fine with 74% of Republicans if Bush lets thousands of people die slow deaths in New Orleans? [ABC News] I am not calling for Bush's impeachment, but I am whole-heartedly calling for him to do the job he'd be falling over himself to do for Indonesia, or to step aside and let someone else do it. The news reports have done a pretty good job of making us aware of just how hard it is to fly heliocopters into residential neighborhoods, amongst power lines and other irregular structures, but tens of thousands of people living in poverty did not move into New Orleans two weeks ago. Hospitals weren't built and occupied the evening before the storm hit. This was not an earthquake or a tornado. They knew these people were there, they knew they would be trapped, and if they'd been sitting on barrels of oil they'd have been evacuated before this storm hit Florida, let alone before they drowned or died from a lack of access to insulin or heart medication.
